How To Make Your Kids Love Vegetables

Encouraging your little ones to love vegetables can be both exciting and tricky. Many kids turn away from vegetables for a few reasons, such as the slightly bitter flavor most vegetables have and their natural craving for sweeter and richer flavors. Research suggests that kids need to be exposed to food 10-15 times before they might start liking it, that’s indeed quite a challenge! But don’t worry, here are our tips to help veggies a favorite on their plate.

  1. Introduce Vegetables Creatively
Get your kids to taste vegetables early in your most creative way, it helps them to develop a lifelong love for healthy eating. In their early years, try blending pureed veggies with fruits for a familiar taste. As they grow, make the experience more enjoyable with storytelling, veggie art, and many more. Most importantly, avoid forcing and punishing them if they are not interested!
  2. Pair With Tasty Flavors
Kids might not instantly fall in love with vegetables, especially when served plain. Try to bring more familiar and tasty flavors to the vegetables! Drizzle carrots with honey glaze, let them dip vegetables with their favorite dipping sauce, or pair them with cheese for extra yumminess. As long as it’s done mindfully, it won’t hurt anybody, right?
  3. Let Them Be in Charge
Bring your kids along for grocery shopping and let them choose a new vegetable to try. Get them involved in the kitchen while preparing the veggies to spark their curiosity and excitement. You can also create a fun DIY salad bar project where they can build their salad by choosing vegetables and toppings to dipping sauce.
